Green Art

Green Art is my new monthly column where I will share with you what I'm doing to be an environmentally friendly artist. Being green is the color we all need to be more often. Whether you're recycling, using environmentally safe cleaning products, or helping to clean up a wetland, or even just your neighborhood, Green is the color of love - love of our planet!

About the Artist

"My purpose in painting animals and nature is to show the beauty, the fragile condition of nature.  I see this as a challenge in my art and hope I can reach others through my art so that they, too, will come to love and appreciate the beauty on earth that is ours to cherish and protect."
— DJ Geribo

DJ Geribo gives 10% of the profits on the sales of her artwork to animal protection organizations.

Please share my artwork!

Please forward this newsletter to others who may also enjoy my art!

THANK YOU!

Art Quote

"I can't conceive of anything being more varied and rich and handsome than the planet earth. And its crowning beauty is the natural world. I want to soak it up, to understand it as well as I can, and to absorb it. And then I'd like to put it together and express it in my paintings. This is the way I want to dedicate my work."
— Robert Bateman (one of my heroes)

Tips for Artists

Water-Soluble Oils — Water-Soluble oils are a great alternative to using regular oils. There is no need to use any of the toxic cleaning fluids needed for cleaning brushes when you use regular oil paints.   The brushes clean up with soapy water - I recommend using Master's brush cleaner. And water-solubles work as well as regular oils.   To keep them fresh for many days, put them on the specially made paper to be used with a Sta-Wet palette.

Art Quiz

This Month's Question: —

Judy Chicago's famous work "The Dinner Party" is an installation artwork, on permanent exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, that features 39 mythical and historical famous women. Each place setting features a table runner embroidered with the woman's name and images or symbols relating to her accomplishments, with a napkin, utensils, a glass, and a plate. Why was this exhibit so controversial?

A)  Each plate features butterfly or flower-like sculpture as fetus symbols
B)  Each plate features butterfly or flower-like sculpture as vulva symbols
