What was he thinking?

Weeping Woman by Pablo Picasso This is a painting of one of Pablo Picasso's two mistresses, Dora, who was grieved when she found out she was infertile.  This is how Picasso came to see her, crying, and he painted over 80 paintings of her crying.  Picasso was considered the Hugh Hefner of the art world with two mistresses while he was married.

Tips for Artists

Oil painting tip: Try using water-soluble oils, they work the same as oils and the brushes clean up with soap and water.  (You can also use a brush cleaner to clean your brushes.)  To make the oils last longer when you put them on your palette, put them in a wet palette, like a Sta-Wet palette, and keep them covered.  They will last for many days this way.  Note: the wet palette may dilute the oils somewhat so dry off excess water on the special paper that is used with the wet palette before covering them.

About the Artist

"My purpose in painting animals and nature is to show the beauty, the fragile condition of nature.  I see this as a challenge in my art and hope I can reach others through my art so that they, too, will come to love and appreciate the beauty on earth that is ours to cherish and protect."
— DJ Geribo
